- The AuthorMy name is Cristina Capannolo, and I am a Vegas girl born and raised. I am currently in school at UNLV and will be applying to medical school next year. I am a lover of science, culture, traveling and the outdoors. I have a new found passion for running, and frozen yogurt and cupcakes are among my weaknesses. Nothing gives me more gratification in life than making people happy. I also have Crohn’s disease. I was diagnosed in high school, and saying that it has affected my life greatly would be an understatement. It has only been until recently that I have made a conscious effort to kick Crohn’s in the butt, and take back control of my life. When I discovered the CCFA in 2009, I knew I wanted to be involved and did my best to help in any way I could. Then Team Challenge came along and the idea sounded very intriguing, but I never thought in my wildest dreams I would ever be able to run a 1/2 marathon. I knew that I needed to stop making excuses and not let Crohn‘s Disease dictate my life. It was therefore that I signed up for the first season of Team Challenge in August of 2009. Little did I know then what an adventure I was about to embark upon. Team Challenge gave me something to look forward to everyday for 14 weeks. I met amazing, good-hearted people and formed long-lasting friendships. I achieved and surpassed all of my running and fundraising goals. The adrenaline and Team Challenge camaraderie that I experienced on race-day weekend was literally magical. It was by far the most amazing and fulfilling experience of my life. Through this experience I was lucky enough to be a Mentor for the second season of Team Challenge in which we conquered the Napa to Sonoma half marathon in July of 2010. My second experience was just as magical as the first and it is why I now come to you as your Assistant Coach for next season. My running history is short, in that it began little under a year ago, but since then I have run in 4 half marathons and plan to do many more. It has become part of my lifestyle, and I have learned so much that I am eager to be able to share with all of you. I cannot wait to cheer all of you on during the season and as you cross that finish line on race day!

It is no secret that I love to cook…and I also love to entertain. As a girl who grew up in a very italian household, I have always been moved by how food brings people together. When my friends or family members are trying to get a party together, they know who to come to. And it is not an [...]

I am really critical with movies, and I only write about them if I really like them. I already knew I would enjoy the final installment of the Harry Potter series before I watched it. In my mind, these movies continue to impress and can do no wrong. Though, it makes it much easier when you have such great novels [...]
